This prosthetic toe was made by me back in, approximately, 2007. A wax sculpture was made from a client’s residual. The wax was electroplated in nickel. The wax was melted out leaving a hollow. Silicone was put into the hollow and the mold was oscillated so an even coating of silicone revealed the detail of the mold. The mold was released, trimmed, and the wax residual was placed inside the mold . The silicone skin was painted with silicone paint to meet the prosthetist’s and patients standards. The skin is injected with skin toned silicone. While an aesthetician makes the nail from vinyl and Orthojet acrylic. Resulting in this beautiful toe! I hope this will give you a better understanding of what goes into making these things. The toe is approximately 3 inches long and an inch wide. Thank you for taking the time to read this . It was initially made for a lady that wanted to wear sandals on the beach. Enjoy:)
