Vintage 1980’s French (23.6” x 31.5”) movie poster for “Bus Stop”, a 20th Century Fox romantic comedy drama starring Marilyn Monroe, Don Murray, Eileen Heckart & Hope Lange based on a 1955 William Inge play. Film poster is in very fine-near mint condition. The condition of poster is so excellent it appears virtually unused — although closer inspection may reveal minor wear & tear (light edge wear or mild creases). It is otherwise in absolutely fantastic condition & is single best image of Marilyn Monroe in any movie poster I have ever seen. The director, Joshua Logan, was so impressed with Monroe’s acting he later compared her to Charlie Chaplin in her ability to blend comedy & tragedy. “Bus Stop” was a box office hit & received positive reviews. Don Murray was nominated for Oscar & director received DGA nomination for outstanding directorial achievement. The poster artwork by Tom Chantrell is absolutely enthralling & really captures her beauty, sensuality & vulnerability perfectly!!
