First edition, first printing hardcover copy of Tales of an All-Night Town br Elin Schoen (Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, 1979). True first edition as identified on copyright page, this publisher did not use the letter “A” on the printer’s key, rather the first printing is identified as shown in this copy and the second printing, the “first edition” statement is removed, then letters get removed as printings increase. A unique nonfiction book examining the town of Brooklyn, Illinois and the law enforcement officer, James Bollinger. A glimpse into the lives and nightlife of this predominantly black small town in the 1970s. Jacket now protected in new (removable) archival sleeve but with some rubbing/scuffing to faces and shelf wear around the edges - including some creases, chipping and small tears. Boards straight and clean save for some fading at top edge and with corners bumped. Binding is firm, spine is straight. Remainder mark with tanning pages. See photos. Shipped Media Mail
