This rare vintage fold-out booklet features reproductions of the Bayeux Tapestry, also referred to as Queen Matilda's Tapestry. This remarkable piece includes 34 vibrant fold-out panels with detailed illustrations & bilingual text in French and English. It portrays the events leading up to the Norman Conquest of England in 1066 by William the Conqueror. Handwriting is present on the cover in ballpoint pen, including someone's name and the date "July 6, 1960." There is also minor foxing and discoloration on the back cover, consistent with age. The Bayeux Tapestry is a nearly 1,000-year-old treasure believed to have been commissioned by Bishop Odo, William the Conqueror's half-brother. This booklet, printed by Cie des Arts Photomécaniques in Paris, is a fascinating collectible that offers a portable way to engage with medieval art. Good vintage condition. Minor wear on the cover edges. Back cover shows light foxing/discoloration. Fold-out illustrations are intact and vibrant.
