This hard to find book was written by a man who was the warden at Sing Sing Prison from 1920 to 1941. During his time there, Warden Lawes presided over the execution of over 300 prisoners. He was known as an advocate for prison reform. "The Library of Russell E. Malbon" is stamped on the front pastedown and the front freesheet. I see no other library markings. Someone wrote lightly in pencil on the front pastedown. The corners of the book are rounded, and the binding is a bit more faded than the rest of the cover. There is staining on the front freesheet and the front pastedown as well as those in the back of the book. There is a tiny tear in the back free sheet. These flaws are all shown in the photos. Please see photos.
