Nippon pottery is Japanese porcelain that was made for the Western market from 1891 to 1921. Japanese potters liked to imitate European styles like Limoges and R.S. Prussia. This hand-painted Nippon covered cheese dish features a rare design with florals, peacocks, and butterflies. The dish is in excellent pre-owned condition with no chips, breaks, cracks, or scratches. The glaze on the dish is stunning, and there is no crazing or blemishes of any kind. It looks brand new, despite being up to 130 years old. Measures approx. 7.75" long × 5.75" wide × 4.5" tall.
