I absolutely love Fluorite! Sometimes it is color-changing. Sometimes it has multiple color bands - yellows, blues, greens, purples, pinks. Usually it is clouded or included. Incredibly rarely, it is faceted and totally clear - but then it also costs about $50 a carat, depending on the size of the stone. Fluorite also exhibits fluorescence - meaning it glows under fluorescent light. It is a soft stone - it is classified as a 4, which is harder than than a copper penny (3.5), but scratchable if not protected, so it's not really great for a ring. But it is perfect for earrings!! And what earrings these would make! They are a simply gorgeous shade of sea blue, carved and buffed into large, button-shaped 18.1 X 18.1 X 9.6 mm, and are roughly 31 carats each, at 61.75 carats total. Very, very rare and unusual cabochons!!
