The object is an antique Arabic brass brazier. It likely dates back to the 19th century. Braziers like this were used in the Middle East, Turkey, and Morocco as food warmers or for burning incense during ceremonies. The crescent moon and star on top were symbols of royalty and featured on the Egyptian flag during King Faruq's reign. It is made of brass and features a pierced dome design. The pierced design allowed heat or fragrance to radiate outward. It could have been used as a portable hand warmer, filled with ashes and burning coals. Similar braziers were also used in tents. It is old and has patina. It can be cleaned up or left unshined. Up to you.
