Hardcover edition in box (stated “New Edition”) of Fabre’s Book of Insects by Rudolph Stawell (Tudor Publishing Company, 1935). Retold from Alexander Teixeira de Mattos’ translation of Fabre’s “Souvenirs Entomologiques”. With illustrations by E. J. Detmold, on twelve full color tipped in plates. Very rare with original pictorial box and dust jacket. Shelf wear to box, mostly limited to edges and corners. Jacket protected in new archival sleeve but with some foxing to interior and shelf wear around the edges - including chipping, creases and small tears. Large tear to top left corner of front cover which is taped together on reverse side. Faint spotty discoloration to boards which are otherwise clean and straight. Foxing to outer edges of text block, otherwise all pages clean and unmarked though tanned. Binding is firm and spine is straight. See photos for condition.
